Mankato/Faribault/South Central MN Lakes Area

Although Southern Minnesota does not have the same abundance of lakes as the northern part of the state, it still has a few pockets of them here and there. The largest concentration by far is a swath about ten miles wide and thirty miles long from Mankato to Faribault, including the waterfront community of Waterville set in the middle. Lake Washington, Madison Lake, Elysian Lake and Lake Jefferson are popular for year-round lake homes with their proximity to the bustling city of Mankato. To the south and closer to the Iowa border, you will find a selection of smaller lakes around Fairmont, Waseca and Windom.
