The Duluth Inland Lake Area consists of a number of generally larger water bodies – with a strong “northwoods” ambiance – just to the north and west of the city, and into Hermantown. Some of these such as Fish Lake, Island Lake, and Wild Rice Lake are reservoirs mainly owned by Minnesota Power, with many of the lake homes available through leases with the company. But there is also an abundance of privately owned lakeshore on these large reservoirs.
Additionally, there are several other lakes in the area with a fair amount of residential development for lake homes or lake cabins. Some of the smaller lakes with residential development are Pike Lake, Caribou Lake, Schultz Lake and Eagle Lake.
