Lake Areas

Generally, as people think about Alexandria lake properties, the first thing that comes to mind is the Alexandria Chain of Lakes, consisting of seven attractive lakes that wrap around the city and provide over 7,000 acres of water-related recreation. Carlos is the largest in the chain, with Le Homme Dieu and Darling directly attached to it. And just outside of this connected ring of water bodies sit the popular lake home and cabin destinations of Lake Ida, Miltona, Latoka, and many others that give Alexandria its water-based image.

But in most water-rice regions of Minnesota, smaller communities outside of the core city have their own lakefront personalities, and this is also true in Glenwood and Starbuck to the south of Alexandria, and Osakis to the east. And smaller towns like Miltona, Brandon, Evansville and Melby have enough in the way of business offerings to keep their local lake residents filled up with gas, groceries and beer.

Overall, The Alexandria Region is a popular weekend spot for Twin Cities residents because of its easy two hour access on Interstate 94. But the wide array of lakes, and bustling city of Alexandria, provide much in the way of amenities to also make it an attractive place to live year-round.  Below, we’ve broken down a few markets throughout the Alexandria Region to give you the ability to identify lake properties and lake information more easily.
